Mount Taygetus, according to Greek mythology, was named after Taygete, one of the Atlantides, who, in order to escape from the shame after being coerced to mate with Zeus, put an end to her mundane life.

Mount Taygetus, with its magnificent, cobbled streets that start from the plain and lead to demanding trails leading up to the high peaks, offers mountaineers a full-on adventure and exaltation comparable only to that of Mount Olympus and Mount Gamila.
